Description:
Founded
in 1968, it is the mission of Gallery Players to enhance the quality of life through
the performing arts; operate an outstanding community theater and cultural center
in the Northwest; serve as a major resource for cultural, educational, and economic
development in the community; present skillful artists and outstanding arts educators;
attract, develop, and showcase local talent of all ages; and cooperate with other
organizations to expand local arts and tourism.
Special Notes:
The dream for a community theater in McMinnville began in the late 1960s. By 1968,
a small, pioneering group had gathered enough momentum to begin productions in
an art gallery on the campus of Linfield College. Ten years later, the organization
had become successful enough to purchase the current building formerly an old
auto garage and renovate it into a theater.
The
Gallery's main stage theater seats 240 with reserved seating while the Arena Theater
is "open seating" with 80 seats available.
